The Class

This class combines our Yin practice with some Yoga Nidra practice. Yin Yoga is the slower complement to the Yang (active) yoga styles. This yoga targets the connective tissues of the body - tendons, ligaments, fascia, and even the bones themselves - by holding postures for a longer duration than one would deem 'comfortable'. Due to these longer holds (usually 2-5 minutes), you will probably do no more than a handful of postures in the average class. A great practice for cultivating stillness, while also improving circulation and hydration to our more often neglected areas of the body. Yoga Nidra is a specific guided meditation. Following a similar structure each time, the Nidra practice is one of complete physical stillness as the teacher guides you through a body scan before turning your attention inward. A great practice to help with relaxation, your Nidra practice provides space for you to connect to your inner self as we quiet the mind and focus on our deepest heartfelt desires (sankalpas). This practice is for everybody, and you cannot practice Yoga Nidra incorrectly. Bring your most comfortable clothes, blanket, eye pillow, crystals, intentions, journal, etc…
